Head of Public Policy, Southeast Asia
Alvin is Head of Public Policy for Southeast Asia, where he is responsible for managing Facebook’s regional public policy issues and building economic growth initiatives. This involves working with stakeholders, including businesses, governments, policy-makers and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to create initiatives that help people and businesses connect, grow and stay safe.
Before joining Facebook in 2015, Alvin spent 5 years at Goldman Sachs as Vice President (Asia-Pacific) based in Hong Kong and Singapore. He previously worked in the United Nations Secretary-General's Office in New York, Oxfam Australia, and the Singapore Government.
Alvin currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Asia Internet Coalition, which develops policy recommendations to promote Asia’s digital economy. He is also a member of Singapore’s Media Literacy Council, and chairs a local branch of the Inter-Racial and Religious Confidence Circle (IRCC) in Singapore.
Alvin graduated with a First Class Honours in Economics from Sydney University, and a Master in Public Policy at Harvard University, where he was also an International and Global Affairs Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
