Mr Schlickmann joined the Brazilian Federal Police in 2002. During his tenure there, he performed a range of duties mostly associated with forensics and cybercrime investigations.


In 2005, Mr Schlickmann was promoted to be Head of the Digital Forensics Laboratory and he implemented new examination procedures. Subsequently in 2006, he was promoted to be Head of the Forensic Laboratory of the Federal Police Regional Office, in charge of all the forensics areas. He was responsible for the design and implementation of the new chain of custody system and in 2007 he attained the position of Head of the Bomb Squad.


In 2014, Mr Schlickmann was appointed as Assistant Director, Research & Innovation, at the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation, Singapore. This sub-directorate coordinated various cybercrime research and training activities. Some of their achievements were the development of virtual currency tracing tools, the world’s first Darknet training for the law enforcement community, and the first INTERPOL Digital Security Challenge.


In 2016, concomitantly to his role of Assistant Director Research and Innovation, Mr Schlickmann held the Acting Assistant Director positions of Digital Investigative Support and Cyber Fusion Centre.  In these concurrent positions, he coordinated the implementation of new rules for processing data and police intelligence frameworks.


In 2017, Mr Schlickmann was appointed as INTERPOL’s Cybercrime Director, managing one of the three Global Programmes of the Organization.  This directorate coordinates cybercrime investigations, intelligence, capacity building and strategic support.


Before joining the law enforcement community, Mr Schlickmann started a “.com” company and worked at the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Brazil.


Besides a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mr Schlickmann holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law specializing in Comparative International Law. He has also attained a number of diplomas and certificates in leadership, crisis management, operational tactics and forensics.
