Irene Tham has been covering the technology scene since 1999. She began her career reporting on technology developments in Asia at CNET, which was bought over by CBS Interactive. She joined The Straits Times in 2007 as a technology reporter covering topics from data privacy and cyber security to artificial intelligence and smart cities. Irene won the Singapore Press Holdings English/Malay/Tamil Media group Story of the Year award for her story “Public servants’ computers to have no Net access” from The Straits Times on June 8, 2016.
